Hidden Home: A Serene Retreat in the Heart of the City

Creating a Relaxing and Interactive Living Space

Hidden Home, designed by Ping-Hsin Chen, is a residential building that embodies the essence of tranquility and connection with nature. With its unique design and innovative features, this architectural masterpiece offers a serene retreat for its inhabitants.

The inspiration behind Hidden Home was to create a building that would make people feel relaxed and open-minded. The designer wanted to facilitate interaction among the residents and allow them to experience the power of nature within the confines of their home. The design is centered around a courtyard, which defines a laid-back lifestyle and provides a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors.

One of the unique properties of Hidden Home is its ability to cater to the needs of a successful entrepreneur and their family. The house exemplifies a castle-like structure that offers both safety and comfort, making it an ideal environment for children. Additionally, the designer has created a health-friendly green building, fulfilling the dream of a perfect sanctuary for the entire family.

The realization of Hidden Home involved the use of fair-faced concrete and slate stones for the main structure, complemented by linear wooden grilles. This combination creates a visually captivating square curtain effect. The wooden grilles allow light to scatter throughout the house, while the vertical solid wooden shelves and furniture add warmth and serenity to the space. The result is a harmonious blend of contemporary elegance and composed oriental atmosphere.

Hidden Home spans a property of 542.8 square meters, offering ample space for the family to thrive. The exterior of the building features massive olive-green stones, which contribute to its majestic and poised impression. The fair-faced concrete walls and wooden grilles create a balance between solidity and airiness, providing privacy and a Zen-like artistic ambiance. The design also cleverly blocks excessive sunlight, ensuring a comfortable and private lifestyle.

Located in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, Hidden Home was completed in May 2012. The design was meticulously researched to embrace the vitality of nature and create a calm and invigorating atmosphere. The warm sunlight, greenery, and fragrance of flowers surround the house, enveloping the family in a vibrant and refreshing environment.

Hidden Home has been recognized for its exceptional design and functionality. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 in the category of Architecture, Building, and Structure Design. This prestigious accolade is given to creations that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and adherence to professional and industrial standards. Hidden Home stands as a testament to the integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
